Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what Our Picstory LLC ("Our Picstory," "we," "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to ourpicstory.com and the Our Picstory service.

Information we collect

• Photos and content you upload: the photos, captions and story text you add to a journal. Photo files are stored as you uploaded them, so any camera information saved inside the file, such as the date and time it was taken and in some cases the place, stays inside your original file.
• Capture dates: we read the date a photo was taken so your journal can be put in order. We no longer extract GPS coordinates or send them to a mapping service; location details you include in answers or existing journal content may appear.
• Voice answers: if you dictate an answer, the short audio clip is sent for transcription and we keep only the text that comes back. We do not store the recording.
• Account and contact info: your email address, and if you place an order, your name, shipping address and phone number.
• Order and payment info: what you ordered and when. Payments are handled by Stripe; we receive confirmation and limited details, such as the card brand and last digits, but never your full card number.
• Email addresses you give us to finish a journal later, or to hear from us.
• Technical info: basic device, browser and usage information, and cookies or similar storage needed to keep you signed in and remember your work in progress.

How we use it

We use your information to operate the Service, create and deliver your printed journal, generate your online reveal, process payments, provide support, prevent abuse and meet legal obligations. We send you marketing email only after an explicit signup or opt in, such as signing up for updates on the site or ticking the optional box at checkout or beside a "finish later" link, and we record when you did it. A "finish later" link on its own is not a marketing signup.

We do not use Your Content to advertise to other people.

Links you share

A viewing link lets anyone who has it read your journal without signing in. A "Create together" link lets the person you send it to help edit your journal. A "finish later" link opens your own draft, can be used once and expires. Treat all of these as keys: anyone you forward them to can use them. You can revoke viewing and editing links at any time from your journal.

Who we share it with

We share information only with the service providers we need to run Our Picstory, and only for that purpose:

• Stripe, to process payments.
• Our print and fulfillment partner, currently Lulu, to print and ship your journal. They receive your name, shipping address and the print file for your journal.
• Supabase and our hosting providers, to store your journal and run the app.
• Google Gemini, reached through the Lovable AI gateway, to help write caption suggestions from your photos and your answers.
• OpenAI, to turn a dictated answer into text. The clip is sent for transcription and we keep only the text.
• Lovable's managed email service, to send account, recovery and order email.

These providers handle your information under their own terms and may keep it for their own limited periods, for example to run their service or meet their own legal duties. We cannot promise that nothing is retained anywhere outside Our Picstory. We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights and our users. We do not sell your personal information.

How long we keep it

We keep your content and account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service and meet legal and record keeping requirements. You can ask us to delete your journals or your account at any time from the My Photo Journals page, or by emailing us.

Deletion requests are reviewed by a person. Some things may not be removed straight away. Payment records are held by Stripe under their own terms. For a journal that was printed and posted, we keep the order record and the files that were sent to print for as long as we need them to support the order, handle a reprint and keep our books. Information may also remain in routine backups for a limited time. Where a copy of your file sits with a print partner, we will pass on your request through that provider's own deletion process; we cannot promise on their behalf.

Your choices and rights

You can access or update your information, ask us to delete your journals or your account, and unsubscribe from marketing email at any time using the link in those emails or by contacting us. Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop the email we must send about an order or a link you asked for. To make a request, email hello@ourpicstory.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under your local privacy laws, and we will honor those that apply to you.

Children

Our Picstory is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we take protecting your photos and data seriously.

Changes

We may update this policy; we will change the effective date above when we do.
